BJP targets Sheila, vows to cut power tariff by 30%
The BJP launched its Delhi Assembly poll campaign by targeting the Sheila Dikshit government at a big Ramlila Maidan rally on Sunday; promising, if elected, to reduce power tariff in the city by 30 per cent.
Addressing the rally, BJP president Rajnath Singh said it “sent a strong message that no power can stop the ouster of this government” in Delhi. The BJP also said if voted to power, it would “eradicate poverty” in five to seven years.
Delhi, however, is the only state voting soon where the BJP is unable to project a CM candidate so far. In Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, it will contest under the leadership of CMs Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Raman Singh and former CM Vasundhara Raje.
Leaders of different Delhi BJP factions like Vijay Goel, V.K. Malhotra, Harsh Vardhan, Arti Mehra and Vijendra Gupta attended; but there was no sign of Delhi in-charge Nitin Gadkari and co-convener for Delhi affairs Navjot Singh Sidhu.
