BJP to tap youth via social media
In the run-up to the general polls, the BJP is eyeing youth and first-time voters to increase its base. Aiming to win comfortable numbers in the general polls, the party on Friday held a workshop for its functionaries to reach out to the target voters through social media, digital, mobile and Internet to achieve “Mission 272+”.
The figure is the mid-way mark in the Lok Sabha, which has a total strength of 545 members. However, the party wants that its leaders should mainly focus on its poll planks of good governance and development through these mediums. It could be mentioned here that the party was left embarrassed after its Rajya Sabha MP Chandan Mitra, through Twitter, had demand to strip Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen of the Bharat Ratna for attacking Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.
