BJP seeks SIT probe in Maya land allotments
Continuing its attack on the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP has demanded that a special investigation team (SIT) should be set up to probe all land allotments by the Greater Noida Industrial development authority and the Yamuna Expressway authority.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, BJP national secretary Kirit Somaiya said that in Noida extension, nearly 13.67 lakh square metre of land was handed over to builders for farmhouses.
“The farmers were paid at the rate of `818 per square metre while the market price of the land was `12,000 at that time,” he said and added that as per the government tender document each farmhouse should contain a 10,000 square metre dwelling unit, swimming poll, servant quarters, parking facility, park and playgrounds. He said that the land was allotted only to two builders in the area. According to the BJP leader, another 6,000 acre land acquired for Yamuna Expressway Indu-strial Authority, was handed over to selected 10 builders in a dubious manner.
“The farmers were paid `1, 500 crores, the market value of the land was more than `30,000 crores,” he pointed out.
Mr Somaiya said that said a thorough investigation should be done by a SIT, allotments should be cancelled and land returned back the farmers.
The BJP leader also accused the state government of not allowing CAG to conduct a special audit of Noida, Greater Noida and Yamuna Expressway industrial development authorities.
