BJP to raise ‘corruption’ charges against Gehlot
The Opposition BJP is gearing up to give a tough time to Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot and chalked out a month-long programme to raise the issue of nepotism and corruption.
The CM dared Leader of the Opposition Vasundhara Raje to prove the charges. Meanwhile, a section in the ruling Congress opened front against Mr Gehlot.
According to BJP sources, the party is all set to publish a book on alleged scams during the Congress government. “It will be titled FIR against the Gehlot government and distributed in the state,” said a senior BJP leader. The party is going to organise a massive rally in Jaipur on May 2, which will be addressed by BJP president Nitin Gadkari.
Ms Raje had launched a scathing attack on Mr Gehlot, terming his government most corrupt. The Leader of the Opposition said it has been proved that Mr Gehlot was involved in giving favours to his son and daughter and other “favourites”.
The chief minister was quick to join the issue and said such allegations were imaginary and mischievous. ‘’Such charges were framed to mislead the people,” Mr Gehlot said. The chief minister reminded that he always denounce nepotism and favouritism.
BJP spokesperson Jyoti Kiran in Jaipur distributed papers and claimed that the chief minister has links with a business group of Mumbai.
On the other hand, the anti-Gehlot camp in the Congress also launched a campaign against him and tried to corner him. A known Gehlot baiter, state Congress vice-president Hari Singh openly criticised Mr Gehlot and demanded strong action against him.
