BJP promises to keep manipur intact
The BJP on Wednesday promised to keep intact the territorial integrity of Manipur besides trying to withdraw the controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act, 1958 from the state.
The party will also initiate a peace process with insurgent outfits and provide a corruption-free government, BJP said in its election manifesto released here.
The party will do its best to protect Loktak lake, the biggest fresh waterbody in the northeastern region, and improve the state highways.
Releasing the manifesto, party spokesman Prakash Javedkar said if voted to power, the BJP will accord revenue district status to Jiribam in Imphal (East) and Sadar Hills in Senapati districts as demanded by the people. Mr Javedkar said panchayat and local bodies will also be empowered.
