BJP to prepare roadmap for UP polls
The three-day national executive of the BJP, being held in Lucknow, will prepare the road map for the next Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
The party leaders, who will meet at various levels during the national executive meeting, will draw up a list of points around which the party will design its campaign.
Threats to internal and external security, corruption, Hindutva and farmers’ plight are likely to be the major issues for the campaign.
“The problem of corruption is relevant to both, Centre and Uttar Pradesh and our campaign will focus on it. The BSP and the Congress are hand-in-glove on the issue because chief minister Mayawati continues her support to the UPA government and the Congress continues to go slow on the corruption cases against Mayawati. The threat to internal security applies to Uttar Pradesh also where the law and order situation has hit rock bottom. The issue of farmers is all pervasive too,” said a senior party leader. Besides, the unchecked price rise which has hit the common man will be a major issue of the party’s campaign inUttar Pradesh.
“Prices have spiraled and it is the centre which is responsible for it. The state government, on its part, has not made any worthwhile effort to check the inflation by lowering taxes,” the leader explained.
