UP BJP plans rallies against Maya
There seems to be no respite for the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh. After the Samajwadi Party, it is now the Bharatiya Janata Party that is taking to the streets to protest against the misrule of the BSP regime.
State BJP president Surya Pratap Shahi has announced that the party will observe a chakka jam in Lucknow on April 29 during which all vehicular traffic will be brought to a halt for two hours between 11 am and 1 pm.
This is being seen as a warm-up exercise for the party which has been steeped in complacency since the past few years.
“All traffic will be stopped and people will be urged to give a thought to lawlessness and jungle raj prevailing in the state in the BSP regime. We are keeping the programme duration for only two hours because we do not wish to inconvenience the public but the time is sufficient to make people introspect,” he said.
Mr Shahi further announced that the party would organise five major rallies in UP in the coming weeks.
The rallies, the dates of which have not yet been finalised, will be held in Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Agra, Faizabad and Meerut and will be attended by top party leaders, including BJP president Nitin Gadkari.
