BJP plans rallies against corruption
The Bhartiya Janata Party will launch a “Mahasangram Abhiyan’ against corruption and black money in July and August.
The party will start a mass contact programme at the village and district level and will distribute publicity material for the programme. Rallies will be held across the country in September in which senior party leaders like Dr M.M. Joshi, Mr Yeshwant Sinha and Mr Kalraj Misra will inform the masses about the corruption and scams in the UPA government.
These decisions were taken at the concluding session of the BJP’s national executive on Saturday.
Speaking at the meeting, leader of opposition Ms Sushma Swaraj said that UPA lacked the political will to fight corruption. She said that the UPA had earlier resolved to check corruption but its own ministers are involved in scams and corrupt practices.
Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani, in his address said that the most shameful act of the UPA government was the note-for-vote scam which was a blot on democracy.
He advised the party to reach out to the people and organise more programmes to crate awareness about the shameful acts of the UPA government.
The BJP has promised that when it comes to power in Uttar Pradesh, it will set up fast track courts to deal with cases of corruption and crime in the BSP regime.
The party’s national executive, on Saturday, devoted its time to preparing a road map for UP. The party has decided to prepare a vision document and will work according to it. The BJP asked the people of UP to give it another chance and said that it would change the face and fate of the state.
In a resolution passed in the national executive, the party underlined how good governance has been the hallmark of BJP regime in the state.
“The people are wary of the corruption and crime in the Mayawati regime and have not forgotten the misrule of the Mulayam regime. Atrocities are being heaped upon dalits in the BSP regime and Mayawati now prefers ‘daulat’ to dalits,” the resolution said.
The party, however, has decided to play safe and will not project a chief ministerial candidate for the UP elections. “The elected legislators will elect their leader,” said Narendra Singh Tomar, in charge of UP affairs.
