BJP: No action on TDP, please
Floor managers of the government are in touch with Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu to direct his party MPs not to disrupt Parliament proceedings on the issue of united Andhra Pradesh.
On the other hand, the main Opposition BJP opposed any move to suspend the TDP MPs or any action against them. It informed Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar regarding this, sources said here on Tuesday.
According to them, parliamentary affairs minister Kamal Nath was told to talk to Mr Naidu in this regard.
While a section of the government wants the Chair to take disciplinary action against the TDP MPs, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj opposed any move to suspend the TDP members or name them, sources said.
Opposition leaders do not approve such action on the ground that these MPs cannot go to their constituencies after the Congress and its allies in the UPA have decided to carve out a Telangana state from AP.
The Opposition leaders are blaming the government and its floor managers for failing to keep the order in the two Houses of Parliament and made it clear during the meeting with the Speaker that they would oppose any attempt to pass bills in din.
At the AICC briefing, party spokesperson Sandeep Dikshit gave signals that the party’s patience was thinning.
