BJP meet focus on graft under UPA
The BJP national executive, which begins here on Friday, will target the UPA government on the issue of corruption and inflation, on one hand, and the misrule of the Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh on the other.
The national executive which will deliberate on the state of affairs in Uttar Pradesh where polls are due next year, completely ruled out the possibility of another alliance with the BSP in future. “We allied with BSP thrice and this was our biggest mistake. After three bad experiences, it is ‘triple talaq’ for us and we have decided that we will not touch the BSP even with a barge pole,” said BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi while talking to reporters here on Thursday.
Mr Naqvi said that the two-day national executive would pass three main resolutions. “The first resolution will focus on inflation, corruption and black money — all of which have grown under UPA 1 and 2. The second resolution will be on the undemocratic behaviour of the UPA government and the damage that it is doing to the federal structure of the government. The third resolution will focus on Uttar Pradesh and the state of affairs here including the misrule of the Mayawati government,” the BJP leader said.
Terrorism, Naxalism and the UPA’s “terror-friendly policies” will also be discussed threadbare at the national executive that is being spread over seven sessions during two days and will be attended by over 300 members including chief ministers of six states, three former governors, eight former chief ministers, 36 state presidents and 14 leaders of BJP legislature parties.
“Pakistan has been established as a terror factory but it continues to intimidate India because the UPA government is too weak to respond,” he added and said that the UPA government lacked the will power to fight either corruption or terrorism.
Mr Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, while replying to a question, said that the Congress, BSP and Samajwadi Party had always supported each other on issues of corruption. “Loot par 100 per cent choot” is the common minimum programme of these three parties,” he stated.
He went on to term the UPA 1 and 2 as “historysheeter of corruption” and clarified that the UPA governments had created history when it came to corruption.
The BJP national executive will also draw up strategies for upcoming polls in UP Uttarakhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Manipur. “Uttar Pradesh will be discussed separately and in detail. We will draw up our strategy for election bound state and also our agitational programmes against the centre,” he informed.
