BJP leader quits after opposing kushwaha

Former BJP MLC Ramashish Rai, who demanded a probe into the financial transaction behind the induction of Babu Singh Kushwaha into the BJP, joined the Congress on Tuesday.

Ramashish Rai had been suspended after he wrote a letter to Mr L.K. Advani, seeking an inquiry into the circumstances that led to Kushwaha’s induction into the party. Mr Rai said the BJP had double standards over the issue and said that he was returning to the Congress after being disenchanted with the BJP. He had earlier contested the 2004 Lok Sabha polls as a Congress candidate. “The BJP has taken those who are facing serious charges along with those who have been removed by chief minister Mayawati following a Lokayukta inquiry,” he said.
