BJP lashes out at Cong for House logjam
Stepping up its offensive, BJP on Monday squarely blamed the Congress for the persisting logjam in Parliament on the FDI issue, saying the ruling party wants to avoid discussion on the "anti-people policy".
BJP said this is not the right time to bring FDI in retail in the country.
"We have demanded discussion on the anti-people policy of the government as per the rule in the House and Congress is avoiding the discussion. The ruling party is avoiding Parliament," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javedkar told reporters outside Parliament House here.
"Our demand for discussion is justified but government does not want it. Our opposition to FDI in retail is because it will create unemployment and farmers will be badly affected and this is not the right time for it," he said.
Javedkar said the government's argument that it will create cold storage does not hold water because of lack of roads and power. "So how will the cold storage function? he asked.
