BJP formula to cut power tariff today

A day before its rally against power tariff hike, the Delhi BJP on Saturday announced that it would reveal a 10-point formula to reduce power tariff by at least 30 per cent at the Ramlila Grounds on Sunday.

Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel said, “The fact of the matter is that the discoms are actually making huge profits and they have been assured 16 per cent returns. Their modus operandi is to take loan from banks on 10 per cent and get a return of 16 per cent on that investment.”
Mr Goel further alleged that the private power distribution companies have been given commercial property worth crores of rupees by the Delhi government.
The party announced that it would implement a special package for the lower income groups and JJ clusters to provide them highly subsidised power with a fixed monthly bill that is permanently affordable.
Mr Goel said, “If the chief minister does not implement the 10-point formula even after it comes in public domain, then it would imply that she is hand in glove with the private discoms and DERC ensuring completely unjustified hike in power tariff.”
BJP president Rajnath Singh, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley will also address the rally among others.
