BJP: Bring back Indian prisoners dying in pak

The BJP on Friday made a strong plea to the government for making efforts to bring back Indian prisoners in Pakistani jails who are dying or have completed their jail terms.

Raising concerns over the plight of Indian prisoners in Pakistani jails, BJP member Avinash Rai Khanna raised this issue during the Zero Hour in Rajya Sabha.
The LJP’s Ramvilas Paswan later raised the issue of reservation for SC/ST and demanded a constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court order on quota in AIIMS.
The BJP member also demanded that India should build international pressure to force Pakistan to treat Indian prisoners humanely as per the international trea-ties signed with regard to human treatment to prisoners of other nations.
He said three Indian prisoners — Chamel Singh, Sarabjeet Singh and Jaffer — have died inside Pakistani jails in the recent past and many others are languishing there even after the end of their jail terms.
