BJP attacks Nitish for backing Cong’s food security ordinance
Taking a dig at its former ally JD(U) for supporting the Food Security Ordinance amid reports of growing proximity between the Congress and the JD(U), the BJP on Tuesday said “a new believer chants louder than others”.
Escalating its offensive on its former ally, the BJP also asked JD(U) leader and Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar whether his government like the Congress-ruled states will implement the ordinance on former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s birthday on August 20.
While the Bihar chief minister has welcomed the move to bring the food security legislation, the BJP is opposed to some provisions of the ordinance which is already in place.
Criticising the UPA government for its ambitious food security programme, the BJP said the scheme will make a large section of the population dependent on the government.
