BJP asks CBI to quiz pm in coal scam
The BJP said on Saturday that if the CBI was really free from government control then why has it not questioned Prime Minister for his role in the coal scam?
Senior BJP leader Ananth Kumar said at a press conference here on Saturday that the CBI was blatantly trying to shield Dr Singh and an impartial probe into the coal scam was not possible until Dr Singh stepped down from his position.
Mr Kumar said that if Mr Pawan Bansal could be asked to resign in the railway scam, the same rule should apply to those allegedly involved in the coal scam, including Sriprakash Jaiswal and the Prime Minister.
The BJP leader said that by quashing allotments worth `1,86,000 crores, the government had already admitted that there were irregularities in allotments of coal blocks. Those responsible for these allotments should also come under the scanner, he said.
Mr Kumar further said that if the PM had acted under pressure in allotting the coal blocks, people who exerted pressure on him must be exposed.
