BJP alleges `40,000cr loss in Noida land deals
The BJP has accused the Uttar Pradesh government of causing a loss amounting to `40,000 crores in land allotments in Noida during the last one year. The BJP has sought a court-monitored probe into the matter.
Talking to reporters here on Saturday, BJP national secretary Kirit Somaiya said, “It is surprising and shocking that the Mayawati government handed over the lands with a total market price of `60,000 crores to some hand-picked builders for just `19,490 crores. All these allotments were made in 2010-2011 at the behest of the chief minister. We want the Central government to intervene in the matter and an SIT (special investigation team) inquiry should be ordered at the earliest. We also demand that the SIT inquiry should proceed under the monitoring of the court.”
The BJP alleged that the land acquired by the state government for public purposes was handed over to select builders. Mr Somaiya said the party will meet President Pratibha Patil on July 13 to formally seek a probe into the scam. “We have come to know that the CM showed great haste in clearing the deals and 17 lakh sq metres land, worth around `3,360 crores, was cleared on a single day on March 28, 2011,” Mr Somaiya said.

New Delhi
July 9: BJP chief Nitin Gadkari on Saturday termed AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi’s “padyatra: as a “political tour”.
“Gandhi should first go into the questions of why 10 lakh farmer suicides have taken place in the country. Before asking the UP government what injustice it is doing to farmers, he should answer why injustice was done and atrocities visited on the unarmed, innocent people at Ramlila grounds,” Mr Gadkari said.
