Bihar verdict historic: Gadkari
Bharatiya Janata Party president Nitin Gadkari on Monday described the Bihar Assembly election verdict as historic and said that these elections have ended dynastic rule in Bihar.
Mr Gadkari was addressing a huge BJP workers’ rally organised here on Monday to celebrate the completion of five years in office by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He said that the Bihar elections have left the BJP euphoric and went on to add that Mr Chouhan’s five years as chief minister have also laid the foundation of the next elections in Madhya Pradesh and also the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He described the BJP as a truly nationalist party and said its motto is “Rasthravad” (nationalism) and “Sushasan” (good governance).
Our aim is to build a nation which is free from hunger, terror and fear, the BJP president said. Emphasising the BJP’s commitment to democratic values, he said: “In India, if there is any party which is truly a workers’ party, it is the BJP.” Citing his own example, the BJP chief said in his earlier days he used to paint graffiti and paste posters but over a period of time, he rose to become the party president. Taking a dig at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee, he went on to ask can they ever hope to head the Congress Party.
Mr Gadkari was all praise for Mr Chouhan. He said that the Madhya Pradesh chief minister is fully committed to the cause of the sick, ailing and the weaker sections.
He also went on to observe that Mr Chouhan has changed the image of the party.
