Bihar celebrates, Nitish quiet
The BJP in Bihar on Tuesday celebrated Narendra Modi’s birthday with excitement by organising a yajna and cutting several cakes even as chief minister and JD(U) stalwart Nitish Kumar refrained from wishing his Gujarat counterpart.
In sharp contrast to Mr Modi’s birthday last year, when the JD(U) and the BJP were together in Bihar’s then alliance government, the saffron party’s state headquarters wore a festive look as a large number of party workers and Mr Modi’s supporters visited to celebrate his birthday.
Surrounded by supporters, BJP leaders cut and distributed several cakes throughout the day. Some senior BJP leaders, led by former minister Giriraj Singh, performed a special yagna amid chanting of vedic hymns at a local temple seeking Mr Modi’s political and personal success in future.
“This hawan is going to burn down all demoniac powers posing obstacles in the country’s progress. Itis being organised to wish greater successes for Modiji and the destruction of the country’s enemies,” said Mr Singh.
