Big diamond reserve found near Ib river
Geologists have discovered a new diamond reserve in Chhattisgarh, official sources said here on Friday.
Experts of Geological Survey of India (GSI) have found a high quality diamond reserve in Jasipur district in the state.
A private company, which has been given the reconnaissance permit by the state government for surveying the area, has detected presence of a huge diamond reserve on the bank of Ib river in the district with the help of GSI experts, S.K. Trivedy, director state mines and minerals department, said here.
“The extent of the diamond reserve and its economic viability for exploration can be determined only after a detail survey of the identified area,” the officer said.
The state government had earlier issued reconnaissance licences to several private companies like Jindal, Debeers, Rungta mines, Surjya Diamonds and Major Anil Singh Company for surveying the diamond belt in the district to identify any reserve of the hardest mineral.
Earlier surveys have been conducted in areas of Beheradiha, Payalikhand, Jangada, Kodomali, and Kosambuda in Raipur district for such reserves. Of them, diamond reserves have been found in Beheradiha and Payalikhand areas.
