Bidve family may leave UK with body tomorrow
The parents of murdered Indian student Anuj Bidve, shot and killed in Salford on Boxing Day, is due to arrive in London from Pune on Wednesday evening.
The Lancaster University student’s father, Subhash Bidve, mother Yogini Bidve and brother-in-law Rakesh Sonawane boarded a British Airways Mumbai-London flight at 2 pm India time on Wednesday.
No details are available on the Bidve family’s London itinerary. Anuj’s body, released after a second post-mortem on Tuesday by the coroner’s office, is being kept at a north London funeral parlour specialising in Hindu and Sikh funerals. The paperwork to take the body to India is in order and the Bidve family might return to India on Friday night.
No details of the funeral in Pune have been revealed as yet. “We expect the body will be brought to India in two to three days. The family members will also visit Lancaster University, where Anuj studied,” said Suruchi Wagh, Anuj’s cousin, who lives in Pune.
The family will visit Manchester on Friday, according to information released by the Greater Manchester police.
The Bidve family is planning to visit the vigil site on Ordsall Lane, the scene of the murder, in Salford on Friday morning, but the police has not released any details. The police said they will be accompanied by family liaison officers during the visit.
