Bhuria seeks MP minister dismissal
A Congress delegation, led by Madhya Pradesh Congress unit president Kantilal Bhuria, on Thursday called on state governor Rameshwar Thakur and presented him a memorandum seeking state cooperatives minister Gaurishankar Bisen’s dismissal and registration of a case against him under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, for allegedly making insulting remarks against the tribals at an official gathering recently.
Before proceeding towards Raj Bhavan to meet the governor, Mr Bhuria presided over a meeting of Congress MLAs belonging to the SC/ST communities, state party office-bearers and other senior leaders at the state Congress headquarters here.
In a week’s time, this is the second memorandum presented to the governor on the same issue. On Wednesday, the state Congress president also launched a major salvo against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led state government on the issue of land acquisition and said that the government is recklessly acquiring farmers’ land to hand it over to private companies. He cited the example of two villages in Chhindwara district and said that the issue of acquisition of land owned by 37 tribal villagers was raised from the Congress side during last month’s district planning board meeting. Mr Bhuria went on to allege that the state cooperatives minister had lost his temper at this meeting and made some objectionable remarks against the tribals.
