Bheel Meenas seek split in ST quota

Although the issue of reservation for STs united the Bheel Meena community of south Rajasthan with the powerful Meena community in east, now the Bheel Meena leaders demand a separate quota for tribal of sub-plan [TSP] area. “We want 45 per cent of ST quota should be given to the tribal of TSP,” says a prominent tribal leader. The tribal leaders of south Rajasthan spent the whole day in Udaipur discussing the issue. The tribal leaders reacted sharply when Dausa MP Kirodi Lal Meena shifted his focus on south Rajasthan and tried unsuccessfully to hold a “Maha Padav” rally in Udaipur.

SIT chief holds meeting ahead of SC hearing
Ahmedabad, April 24: R.K. Raghavan, chief of Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigating Team (SIT) reinvestigating some post-Godhra riot cases, had a day-long meeting with his team members ahead of the April 27 hearing in the top court on the complaint filed by widow of Congress MP and riot victim Ehsan Jaffrey.
Mr Raghavan’s visit to the agency’s office in Gandhinagar assumes significance since the SIT is supposed to file a report by April 25 on whether further probe was required into Zakia Jaffrey’s complaint and also comes against the backdrop of the sensational affidavit filed by IPS officer Sanjeev Bhatt in the apex court.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
