Bhawani Singh, ex-maharaja of Jaipur, is dead
Brigadier Bhawani Singh, the former maharaja of Jaipur, died at a Gurgaon hospital late Saturday night. He was 80. His funeral will take place here on Monday with full state honours. The Rajasthan government has declared two-day state mourning.
Brig. Singh had seen action in the 1971 war. The courtesy royal title now passes to his grandson Padmanabh, son of his daughter Diya Kumari, who he later adopted.

Puducherry’s L-G: Will quit if I’m asked to
New Delhi, April 17: Facing an ED summons for his alleged links with Hasan Ali Khan, Puducherry lieutenant-governor Iqbal Singh said on Sunday he was ready to resign if asked to.
“I’m ready for any kind of inquiry by any authority. I’m ready to resign... But so far there’s no indication from anyone,” Mr Iqbal Singh said.
Neither the ED nor any other agency had approached him, he said.
