Bhanwari Devi killed on Sept. 1: CBI
The CBI probe into the Bhanwari Devi case has revealed that the 36-year-old Jodhpur’s auxiliary nurse-cum-folk singer was murdered by her abductors on September 1, the day she was kidnapped. The agency has recently recovered a vehicle which was used to dispose off her body.
Sources in the agency said, “Abductors of Bhanwari Devi used a separate vehicle to kidnap and strangulate her and then her body was shifted to another one to take it to some undisclosed destination, where the remains were disposed off.”
“Probe has also revealed that abductors of Bhanwari filmed her body after she was murdered to claim the contract amount. Former Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna hired Sahi Ram Bishnoi, who is absconding, for Rs 50 lakhs to get a CD from Devi,” sources said.
When Bhanwari refused to give the CD, allegedly showing Maderna in compromising position with the folk singer, to them, Shahabuddin and Sohan Lal allegedly strangled her on the directions of Sahi Ram in a Bolero jeep, sources added.
Sources further said, “Sohan Lal reportedly used his cellphone to take photographs of Bhanwari’s body. After taking photographs of Bhanwari’s body, the accused shifted her body from the Bolero jeep to another vehicle.”
The agency has identified the role of a Jodhpurbased gang in allegedly disposing off the body, a job that was contracted to it by another group of criminals that is suspected of abducting and killing her on September 1.
