In Bengaluru, Bill Gates’ way to the future
He may not be the world’s richest anymore, but he has deep pockets. And a conscience!
In the IT capital on Friday for a closed door brainstorming session with the Who’s Who of industry, Bill Gates, whose middle name is philanthropy, brought the rich and famous under one roof, some say to set up the framework for an Indian version of The Giving Pledge initiative that the Microsoft founder launched in 2010.
Apart from Wipro chairman Azim Premji, under whose aegis India’s exclusive billionaire’s club were meeting, Infosys founder Narayana Murthy, Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata, Biocon CMD Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Nandan and Rohini Nilekani tapped their collective experience in improving the lives of the under-privileged.
