Bengaluru airport to be named after Kempegowda
The Bengaluru International Airport would be named after the city founder Kempegowda, chief minister B. S. Yeddyurappa said on Friday.
Speaking in the legislative Assembly during question hour, Yeddyurappa said the next Cabinet meeting would take a decision in this regard. Thereafter, the state government would write a letter to the Centre seeking its consent, he said.
Minister for home and transport R. Ashoka said the renaming would coincide with the 500th anniversary of the rule of Kempegowda.
The issue was raised by D. K. Shivakumar (Cong).
