Beijing points finger at Pak role in terror
Tacitly pointing a finger at close ally Pakistan, China on Friday froze the assets of six absconding terrorists of a separatist outfit in Xinjiang, the home of Muslim Uyghurs, and called on “foreign countries” to arrest them.
Without directly naming Pakistan, China’s public security ministry said they spent some time in “a certain South Asian country”, where they got training in terror attacks, suicide bombings and knife attacks. Asked if this was a reference to Pakistan, a Chinese foreign ministry spokesman said the question should be put to the relevant ministry.
All six are “core members” of the banned East Turkistan Islamic Movement, which a Chinese official described as the “most direct and real threat China faces”.
