Banished by Jaya, sasikala disowns kin
In a dramatic development, Sasikala Natarajan, banished by Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa from her Poes Garden bungalow in December, amid allegations that she and her family had misused proximity to the chief minister to gain huge pecuniary benefits, pledged loyalty to akka (elder sister) and said her sole aim was to serve her for ever.
In an emotional two-page statement distributed to the media on Wednesday, Ms Sasikala claimed she had only recently learnt about her relatives misusing proximity to Ms Jayalalithaa and conspiring against her. Consequently, she has cut off all links with all of them and would like to serve akka for the rest of her life. “I have already dedicated my life to akka after she accepted me as her sister in 1984”, Ms Sasikala said.
She said she had never aspired to join politics and gain positions in the AIADMK. All she wanted was opportunity to serve akka, she said.
She said on Wednesday that she had no clue that her family members and friends had plotted against the AIADMK supremo and distanced herself from them.
“Till I was in Poes garden with akka, I had only some hint of what was happening outside, but never had full details,” she said.
