Bad roads for 15 more days
Hyderabad: Motorists and commuters will have to bear with the rain-ravaged, potholed roads for another 15 days. While the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has started repairing the 8,000 potholes identified by its engineers, it will take another fortnight to complete temporary repairs and re-carpet stretches of roads that have been washed away by the rains.
GHMC commissioner M.T. Krishna Babu said Rs 16 crore had been sanctioned and the process of short tenders would be completed in three days. Following that, repairs of larger, damaged stretches would be taken up and completed in 15 days. “We are waiting for dry spells,” he said.
Though GHMC put the number of potholes at nearly 8,000 and said it had already attended to 5,137, motorists have refused to buy the civic body’s claim. They say the number of potholes could easily be over 25,000.
