Bachchan liabilities: Rs 152cr

According to the disclosures made in the affidavit filed by Ms Jaya Bachchan on Saturday along with her nomination papers for the RS biennial elections, she has agriculture land in Hujur, Bhopal (5 acres) and in Kakori in Lucknow (1.2270 hectares) while her husband, superstar Amitabh Bachchan, has agriculture land on his name at Dalulatpur village in Barabanki (0.575 hectare) and in Kakori, Lucknow (2.403 hectares).

The total cost of the land in Kakori, Lucknow is `4.35 crores. They also have non-agriculture land in Film City, Noida and at Metaal, Ahmedabad and in Mumbai worth over `25.75 crores. Mr Bachchan owns a commercial building in Juhu, Mumbai, comprising six apartments since 2004 and now worth over `20 crores. The couple owns paintings worth `4 crores.
The affidavit of Ms Bachchan also includes a list of around 66 individuals and companies, who have been given advances by the couple. Amitabh has given a loan of `29.28 crores to his wife Jaya and `1.01 crore to his married daughter Shweta. Jaya has also given an advance of `4.72 lakhs to Shweta.
The couple has also shown liabilities worth over `152.19 crores in which `104.48 crores is of Mr Bachchan and remaining `47.71 crores of Ms Bachchan.
In their income-tax return filed for the financial year 2010-11, while Ms Bachchan has shown her income to be `14.52 lakhs, the income of Mr Bachchan was shown to be `72.50 crores.
Ms Bachchan has `94,246 cash in hand while deposit in bank accounts/FDR etc. is `3.97 crores. Investment in bonds, debentures is `4.34 crores.
In 2004, Ms Bachchan had shown her assets to the tune of `22 crores which increased to `37 crores in 2006.
