Assam better than Gujarat, says Gogoi
Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi here on Thursday reprimanded local media for advising him to take a lesson from Gujarat and Bihar chief ministers to bring in development to the state. Mr Gogoi told reporters, “Why should I look towards Modi and Nitish Kumar. My state has progressed better than Gujarat and Bihar.”
Referring data of the Planning Commission, Mr Gogoi argued, “Mr Modi was developing a developed state whereas I have been accelerating the pace of development of an underdeveloped state.” He asserted, “I don’t need to take a lesson from Modi to develop my state.”
Visibly upset over the suggestion of the local media, Mr Gogoi also ruled out the possibility of him trying to be the candidate of the party for the coming election of the vice-president. “I am not in race for any vice-president or any other post outside the state. I will continue to serve the people of my state,” he said clarifying that there was not such proposal even. Mr Gogoi also informed that they are going to reassess preparedness of the state in handling any earth quake’s devastation in the state.
