ASI report was clincher in HC verdict: Advani
New DelhiSenior BJP leader and its parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani is of the view that it was Archaeological Survey of India’s (ASI) report that proved to be the “clincher” in the Allahabad high court judgment regarding the Ayodhya title suit case. The senior BJP leader on Sunday also came out in defence of the Sangh parivar fountainhead, RSS, after AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi equated the organisation with banned SIMI. Mr Advani lauded RSS role during the freedom struggle and its influence on the society post Independence.
Writing on the Ayodhya issue in his blog on Sunday, Mr Advani said: “At least in so far as the high court judgment is concerned the clincher has been the report of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). This is a report very painstakingly produced on the directions of the High Court itself.” His latest post on the issue in his blog is titled “Crucial aspect of Ayodhya matter”.
After the verdict was announced in the title suit case of the disputed site in Ayodhya on September 30, a section of the minority community along with political outfits like the SP had alleged that the court verdict had given precedence to faith over evidence. Mr Advani stated in his blog that the court and the ASI had made all efforts to find conclusive evidence. “The Ground Penetrating Radar Survey had shown up some anomalies. So the high court directed the ASI to undertake excavations,” Mr Advani said.
