Arun Nehru, 69, is dead
Arun Nehru, a former Union minister and a powerful figure during the prime ministership of Rajiv Gandhi, passed away on Thursday night after prolonged illness. He was a columnist for this newspaper.
Nehru, 69, a cousin of Rajiv Gandhi and minister for internal security in his government, died in a hospital in Gurgaon, according to family sources.
The funeral will take place at the Lodhi crematorium here on Friday. Nehru had been admitted to the Fortis hospital in Gurgaon 18 days ago and passed away at 10.47 pm on Thursday night.
He is survived by his wife Subhadra and two daughters.
Lucknow-born Nehru was a three-time Lok Sabha member.
