Articles worth lakhs of Rupees destroyed in fire at Tirumala
Ten shops were gutted and articles including toys and framed photos worth several lakhs of Rupees destroyed in a fire which broke out in a mini-shopping complex, close to Lord Venkateswara temple at nearby Tirumala on Monday, police said.
However, no loss of life was reported, they said.
Fire brigade officials said a short circuit in a framed photo shop sparked off the fire, which quickly spread to other shops, completely destroying them before fire tenders could reach the spot.
The loss is estimated at around Rs. 30 lakh, they said. The shopping mall is 300 feet away from the main entrance of the famous Lord Venkateswara temple.
