Army man kills pregnant wife for dowry

An army man was today booked for allegedly killing his pregnant wife for dowry in Kalota village of the district.

Neelam Kumari (31) was allegedly thrown off the roof by her husband Satish Kumar last night in Mukerian area, police said.

"Deceased Kumari's mother Prem Lata in her complaint stated that Satish and his mother Darshna Devi were compelling Neelam to bring Rs 2 lakh from her parents, and on refusal they got enraged and threw her off the roof," Rakesh Aggarwal, Senior Superintendent of Police said.

Neelam got married to Satish seven years ago, and had a three-and-a-half-year old son, police said.

Satish is serving in the Indian Army had come on a month's leave to his village Kalota, they said.

A case has been registered under section 304 B of the IPC against Satish and his mother Darshan Devi, they said.
