‘Appeasement plan dangerous’
The BJP feels that the Muslim appeasement policy being aggressively pursued by the Akhilesh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh was fraught with dangerous consequences and could lead to communal wars in the state.
In an interview to this correspondent, BJP MP and firebrand Hindu leader Mahant Yogi Adityanath said, “In its one month of existence, the Akhilesh Yadav government has taken three major decisions and all of them are aimed at Muslim appeasement. The government has announced `30,000 for all Muslim girls who pass Class 10. Why not for Hindu girls? Are they less deserving?”
Secondly, he said, the government has announced that it will construct boundary walls around all Muslim graveyards. This will lead to communal tensions in every village if the graveyard land is earmarked.
Thirdly, and most importantly, the appointment of Babri lawyer Zafaryab Jilani as additional advocate-general is bound to upset the sentiments of the Hindus since he has been opposing the Ram temple and is now preparing to give a clean chit to those responsible for terror attacks on Faizabad and Varanasi.
The Mahant, who was in Lucknow on a private visit, said that the BJP had failed to cash in on the mood of the voters who were in favour of the party because of “incompetent” state leadership.
“Before the polls we all knew that the wave was in favour of the BJP but the state leadership was unable to cash in on the mood,” he said.

Govt dismisses report on 4 ministers
New Delhi, April 24: The government Tuesday dismissed reports that four Union ministers had offered to quit their posts and work for the party, saying all Congress leaders are working for the party whether they are a part of the dispensation or the organisation.
“You people always are in the habit of some sort of imagination. Everybody is doing party work whether they are in government or outside government. Therefore I have nothing to comment on it,” finance minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters.
He was replying to questions on whether Union ministers Salman Khurshid, Jairam Ramesh, Vayalar Ravi and Ghulam Nabi Azad had offered to resign from their posts and work for the Congress party. — PTI
