AP Family constructs temple for dead pet dog
This could be straight out of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not kingdom. A family residing at Madhuranagar has built a temple in memory of their pet dog in their home and offer prayers to a photograph of the pet, which died recently, every morning.
According to Kopparapu Venkata Sivaramakrishna (57) and his wife Venkata Varalakshmi, a street dog came to their home along with Sivaramakrishna one fine day 14 years ago. The family offered the animal food, and it stayed at their home, gradually becoming an integral part of the family, he said.
Sivaramakrishna named the dog after his mother Subbamma, and the family — the couple has three children — called it ‘Subbu’. Going down memory lane, Sivaramakrishna said barring him, Subbu did not let anyone, even other family members, to touch the steel almirah in the house.
After the pet died, they buried it in the premises of their house and constructed a temple, much to the consternation among some of his relatives, he said.
