AP cops seize cash linked to mining baron Janardhana Reddy
Police in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, seized cash amounting to Rs 4.95 crores from two persons during vehicle checks at the Bellary junction in Guntakal on Thursday evening.
Sources reveal the pair have confessed that the cash was handed over to them by mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy’s men in Bellary who had asked them to deliver the amount to an address in the outskirts of Hyderabad city.
Acting on a reliable tip off, the cops intercepted a lorry in which Eshwar Reddy of Chapadu mandal in Kadapa district and Venkateshwara Reddy of Proddutur were travelling. They had three travelling bags in the cabin, revealed Guntakal DSP V. Prakash Rao.
The police found cash bundles in the bags.
Eshwar then told the cops that he was the owner of the lorry and was going to deliver cash bags to a person in Hyderabad. According to the sources, the men then confessed before police that they had received the money from Reddy's men.
A case would be registered soon.
