AP college attender murders woman, buries her body
Apparently infuriated that the girl he loved was getting married to another person, an attender of a private college allegedly killed a 25-year-old woman and later buried her body in the college premises in Andhra Pradesh's Khammam district, police said on Saturday.
U Raju, attender in the Annie Beasant College of Education at Ponnekallu, strangled Sarika, who had completed B Ed from the institute in December last, and buried her body, they said.
The victim's parents had lodged a complaint with Khammam Rural Police on May 4 stating their daughter has been missing since May 1.
During the probe, police traced the accused based on Sarika's cellphone call records, an Investigating Officer told the media by phone.
"We picked up Raju this morning. During interrogation he confessed to murdering Sarika and later burying her body," the police officer said.
"The victim had friendly relations with the attender and when she informed him that her parents had fixed her marriage, the accused (who seems to have been loving her) got angry and reportedly told her that if she can't marry him she can't belong to anyone else. He later strangled her to death," he said.
The body was exhumed this morning. As the incident came to light, Sarika's family members and relatives pelted stones at the college and ransacked its office, police said.
They later took the decomposed body in a procession and held a `dharna' in front of the Khammam Collectorate demanding stern action against Raju and the college authorities.
