Anti-Naxal strategies discussed
Top brass of Central paramilitary forces — CRPF, ITBP and BSF — and Chhattisgarh police here on Thursday decided to reorient their strategy to combat Maoist menace in the state in the wake of Tuesday’s massacre of 27 CRPF jawans by the ultras at Dhorai, official sources said. Sources said it has been decided that the CRPF
personnel will have frequent relocations at places only where deployment is needed. The strategy will be reviewed from time to time when required.
The meeting also reportedly felt the need to take immediate measures to boost morale of the jawans and prevent them at all cost from being affected by the recent killings of security personnel in large numbers by Maoists in Chhattisgarh.
“Our focus would now be to kill rather get killed,” state home minister Nankiram Kanwar, who also attended the meeting, told reporters here.
It has also been decided to put in place a mechanism to ensure better coordination between the state police and Central paramilitary forces while undertaking combing operations.
He said the security personnel would now be aggressive in their battle against the rebels. The meeting was attended among others by CRPG director general Vikram Srivastav and Chhattisgarh DGP Vishwa Ranjan.
