Another sex racket in Goa busted
Within four days of the first charter flight from abroad coming in, heralding the beginning of the tourist season in Goa, the local police, late on Saturday night, busts yet another sex racket running under the garb of a massage parlour and rescued 11 girls from Manipur.
Acting on a tip-off from their Manipur counterparts, the Goa police raided a beauty-cum-massage parlour in the popular Candolim area and rescued the 11 girls. The women and child protection team also arrested five men during the raid. The owner of the parlour, Ms Mahalaxmi Mishra, has been taken in custody.
The Manipur superintendent of police had written to the Goa cops that local girls were being forced into prostitution at the parlour. “The Manipur police found it suspicious that girls, who did not have any professional beauticians’ training, were employed at the beauty parlour,” said Mrs Auda Veigas, head of a women’s NGO.

Dudhwa to be named after Ambedkar
age correspondent
Lucknow
Oct. 10: The Mayawati government in Uttar Pradesh is all set to rename the Dudhwa National park after Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
A proposal to this effect has been sent by the forest department and is under the “active consideration” of the state government.
The Dudhwa National Park is located in the Terai region of Uttar Pradesh and is spread over an area of 680 square kilometres.
The wildlife park was set up as a wildlife sanctuary and tiger reserve in 1958 and was notified as a national park in 1977, mainly due to the efforts of wildlife expert and conservationist Billy Arjan Singh.
Billy Arjan Singh died earlier this year and wildlife enthusiasts have been lobbying for the Dudhwa Park to be named after him.
Interestingly the Dudhwa Park got its name mainly due to its proximity with a makeshift milk market that used to be held here.
