Another K’taka BJP leader to face probe
Adding to the BJP government’s growing embarrassment, the Lokayukta police will now register a first information report against state industries minister Murugesh Nirani on Wednesday after the special Lokayukta court on Monday
ordered the Lokayukta police to investigate charges of illegal denotification of land against him by a private complainant Alam Pasha, an official source said.
With Tuesday a public holiday, the Lokayukta police, which had not received the court order till evening, will register the FIR against Mr Nirani under the concerned sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code. “Then we will start the probe,” the officer said.
Mr Pasha accused Mr Nirani of illegally denotifying 20 acres of land near Devanahalli and seven acres of land at Dobbespet, which had been acquired by the government-run Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board.
He prayed that the court take cognisance of the matter and order a thorough investigation. He also alleged Mr Nirani had “misused” the forum of Global Investors’ Meet held last year by the Karnataka government for his “own personal advantage”.
