‘Anna silent to avoid comment on bhushan’
Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh has said that social activist Anna Hazare undertook a maun vrat ostensibly to avoid any comment on his colleague Prashant Bhushan’s controversial statement or on former Karnataka chief minister Yeddyurappa’s arrest.
“I respect his decision to undertake the fast but why does he target corruption in the Congress and ignore the same in the BJP? I do not have a problem with the RSS supporting his crusade against corruption but where is the need to repeatedly deny the RSS factor? Is this not double standards?” Mr Digvijay Singh said at a press conference here on Sunday.
Referring to Mr Bhushan’s statement on Kashmir, the Congress leader said that it was for legal experts to decide whether it was seditious or not. “People like him provoke others and I strongly condemn his statement and also the violent incident in his chamber but this happens when you promote fundamentalist elements,” he said.
Mr Singh said that this was a season for yatras in the country and in Uttar Pradesh.
“From Akhilesh Yadav to Narendra Modi to Baba Ramdev and Mr L.K. Advani — everyone is embarking on a yatra. Mr Advani, in any case, is an old yatri but this time, it seems that he chose a wrong muhurat for his yatra against corruption. The arrest of Yeddyurappa proves corruption within the BJP and Mr Advani says that the Congress lacks the political will to fight against corruption,” he stated.
