Anna jail bharo from Jan. 1, may defer fast if bill tabled
Social activist Anna Hazare warned Thursday he would begin a “jail bharo” agitation from January 1, in addition to his indefinite hungerstrike from December 27, if the anti-corruption legislation was not passed by Parliament in the Winter Session.
Team Anna member Kiran Bedi said later, though, that if the Lokpal Bill was tabled in Parliament next week, Mr Hazare would not go on fast.
Mr Hazare told reporters that if time was a problem, the session should be extended. Hr said he would personally lead the agitation in front of the homes of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi. Team Anna also said protests would be held outside the homes of MPs opposing the bill.
