Hyderabad: The AP High Court on Friday allowed the APNGOs Association to hold a Save Andhra Pradesh public meeting at the LB Stadium on Saturday. But it directed the city police not to permit politicians to either participate or share the dais with the employees.
While refusing to cancel the police permit to the APNGOs to hold the meeting, Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao said that the meeting can’t be described as against the interests of the sovereignty and integrity of India or public order.
Only state employees allowed: Judge
Hyderabad: Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao of the AP High Court made it clear that the APNGOs Association cannot allow any person other than a government employee to participate in the ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ public meeting to be held at the LB Stadium in the city on Saturday.
T. Sriranga Rao, a practising advocate and another petitioner had asked the court to direct the police to refuse permission for the meeting.
While acknowledging the conditions imposed by the deputy police commissioner of Central Zone for granting permission for the meeting, the judge said that the court does not see any “legal infirmity” in granting permission to the APNGOs to hold the public meeting.
The judge said, “I am confident that the APNGO association and in particular the police machinery would be careful enough to prevent any such mischievous elements gaining ground or attempting to disturb the public order and peace prevailing in the city and they would be dealt with sternly. The peaceful demonstration of expression of the voice of the government employees cannot be prevented from occurring at all.”
He disposed another application moved by the petitioner urging the Court to grant stay on live telecast of the meeting. He told the petitioner to make representation to the local deputy commissioner of police who will look into the matter and take a decision.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
