Amar says sorry to Muslims
Expelled Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh has apologised to Muslims for being a mute spectator to Mulayam Singh Yadav’s friendship with former BJP leader Kalyan Singh.
Addressing a seminar organised by the Qaumi Rabta Council here on Monday, Mr Singh said, “I am your culprit because I remained silent when Mulayam Singh Yadav struck a friendship with Kalyan Singh who was responsible for the demolition of the Babri mosque. I also kept quiet with Kalyan’s son, Rajvir Singh, was inducted into the Mulayam Singh government,” he said.
Mr Amar Singh said that if Muslims genuinely wanted to improve their condition, they should learn to build up their own leadership instead of depending on non-Muslim leaders.
He challenged Mr Mulayam Singh Yadav to announce that he would appoint a Muslim chief minister if his party came to power in UP in 2012 and that he or his son would not stake claim for the chief minister’s post.
He asked the Congress to project a Muslim leader like Salman Khurshid as chief ministerial candidate in UP.
