Amar plans march for Poorvanchal cause
Expelled Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh on Tuesday stated that he would be setting out for a foot march from Gorakhpur to Allahabad in support to carve out a Poorvanchal in Uttar Pradesh. He accused SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and UP chief minister Mayawati of having neglected the interests of the eastern part of the state.
Mr Singh also vowed that he would henceforth be practising “politics of cause” in place of electoral politics, while admitting that he “lied a lot in each of the elections when he was in his former party”. Also espousing dialogue in place of confrontation, Mr Singh said that if there be a need he could even go to MNS chief Raj Thakeray with a white rose to ensure that the North Indians are not at the receiving end in Mumbai.
However, the expelled SP leader distanced himself from the reported unhappiness of Amitabh Bachchan for a proposed flyover in front of his house in Mumbai, saying that the needs of people should take priority.
Speaking to reporters, Mr Singh, who is also the president of the National Federation for New States, said that he would be dedicating his time for the cause of six new states of Telangana, Bundelkhand, Poorvanchal, Vidarbha, Harit Pradesh and Gorkhaland.
