All schools in Seema to be shut
Hyderabad: All private schools in the Seemandhra region will observe a bandh for a week from September 23 to 30 in support of United AP.
The government schools in the region have remained closed with all the teachers going on an indefinite strike against the bifurcation of state.
Employees turn down request to call off stir
Talks between the cabinet sub-committee and striking government employees from Seemandhra districts failed to yield any result after the latter refused to budge from their demand of a united state. Representatives of all the employees’ organisations announced that the strike would continue.
The employees organisations, however, hit up on a unique idea of obtaining loan advances from financial institutions for sustenance in the absence of a regular salary.
The Seemandhra Secretariat Employees Forum is in talks with banks where their salaries are deposited to provide loan of at least a month’s salary. “We will pay regular interest. Ours will be a highly secured loan because our salaries will be deposited tomorrow, if not today,” said forum convener Muralikrishna.
Finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy appealed to employees to call off the stir in view of the North East monsoon. The government talks, seemed to lack seriousness as only two ministers turned up at Secretariat on Sunday.
