Alienation of Jogi complete?
In a tactical move apparently to render “rebellious” former CM Ajit Jogi politically ineffective ahead of the November Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh, the Congress leadership has taken the initiatives to rein in his youth brigade in the party as well as woo the Satnamis, a dalit community, from him.
In a first ever move to allocate charges of different bodies of the state party to the senior PCC leaders, the Congress leadership has asked party programme coordinator Bhupesh Baghel to supervise the functioning of the state youth and student wings of Congress, which have virtually been run by Mr Jogi’s son Amit.
By bringing the two wings of the party under control of Mr Baghel, considered Mr Jogi’s bête noir, the Congress leadership has denied him from flexing his political muscle, observers here say.
